offer the following treks on horseback: Maremma Horses (resembling
the American Quarter Horse) on request.
- La Maremma National Park: 4000 hectares situated on the River
Ombrone comprising coastal wetlands, rolling hills and ancient
cattle ranches.
- The Grand Duke’s Pine Forest: 700 hectares of pine woods,
once the country seat of the Grand Duke of Savoy. 7 Kilometres
of wild beach and coastal tide lands. 200 hectares of wetlands
and bird sanctuary. 52 hectares of vineyards (Morellino di
Scansano).
Ride with us on a cattle drive among 500 Long Horn Maremma Cattle.
Round up 130 Maremma horses loose on the plains of Alberese. Weave
through 80,000 ancient olive trees on the Etruscan hills. Visit
the medieval Abbey of San Rabano and see the ruins and watch towers
of the Saracen.  This
is what a holiday at ‘La Scafarda’ is all about.
We
make packages to suit the desire of our clients: single or collective
lessons. Long or short treks to diverse destinations. There is
also trekking on the trails of the Butteri, the cowboys of Maremma.
You may also bring your own horse by arrangement.
We organise long assisted rides, complete with supply vehicles
tailored to your schedule.
We offer children’s riding lessons, pony treks and equestrian
qualifications all under the guidance of professional teachers. We
