Our objective
is to show you in the best way we can, the land and way of life
we and our ancestors have loved and in some cases, died for. For
this reason, we do not have package tour type itineraries.
We will
make a programme just for you. You will need to inform us of
your level of experience and how much time you have to give us.
Costs
will be based on the programme.
Please note that while hard hats can be supplied not other
equipment is usually available for the rider’s personal
safety. Please be sure to inform your insurers of your plans
as La Scafarda considers each individual responsible for his
or her own safety.
Here below are a few examples of where we could go.
Marina
di Grosseto, la Pineta del Tombolo, la Diaccia Botrona
e il "Padule"
On the long trails through the pinewoods, leading to the beaches
for a good canter (experience permitting). The beach ride is available
for 9 months of the year (not in summer).
For the more experienced,
a 3+ trek in the protected Wetlands, typical of La Maremma, where you
can find herons, flamingos, and cormorants to
name but a few, as you cross the Diaccia Botrona before arriving at the
Casa Rossa which is your half way point.

Alberese
For less experience riders and beginners we offer relaxing rides along
old trails rich in vegetation and still made available to us by the Forest
Rangers. |
Alberese:
Faunal Park itinerary
For the more ambitious, treks of 3 hours or more can be arranged in the
Alberese Faunal Park. In this protected area, you can come across, fallow-deer,
roe-deer and wild boar, not to mention the falcons that quiver above and
the pheasant that rummages in the tall grass. |
Monti dell’Uccellina – La
Maremma National Park
You
will follow the "Butteri" or
cowboys in the daily work. Depending on the hours,
day, etc. the cowboys will be rounding up Long
Horn cattle or Maremma horses. There is no way
of knowing how long this ride will take and once
on it, there is no return until the work is done!
A ride that takes you down to the sea, with
breathtaking views, it is easy to find roe-deer
and fallow-deer eating along the rider’s
trail.

... a horseback
